Smallness is operated by Basal House LLC (“Smallness,” “we,” “us”). This policy explains what information we collect when you use smallness.app or our mobile apps, how we use it, and the choices available to you.
1. Information you give us
When you create an account or use Smallness, you may provide:
- Account details — your name, email address, and a password.
- Your content — checklists, tasks, notes, and other items you create or save inside the product.
- Communications — messages you send us through support email or feedback forms.
2. Information we collect automatically
When you visit the site or use the app, we automatically collect a small amount of technical information:
- Device and browser data (such as browser type, operating system, and screen size).
- Usage data (pages visited, features used, approximate session duration).
- IP address and approximate location derived from it (city or region level — never precise GPS).
3. Cookies and analytics
We use a small number of cookies to keep you signed in and to remember preferences. We also use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used so we can improve it. Google Analytics may set its own cookies and collect the technical data described above.
You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all sites by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
4. How we use information
- To create and maintain your account and keep you signed in.
- To provide core product features — saving checklists, syncing tasks, and surfacing relevant articles.
- To improve Smallness — diagnosing issues, measuring what works, and prioritizing what to build next.
- To communicate with you about your account, product updates, or replies to your messages.
- To protect the service from abuse and to comply with legal obligations.
5. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with:
- Service providers who help us run Smallness — including hosting (Vercel), database and infrastructure providers, and analytics (Google). These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy commitments.
- Legal authorities when required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
- A successor in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets — in which case we will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different policy.
6. Data retention
We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account or ask us to remove your data, we delete it within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it for legal, accounting, or security reasons.
7. Your rights and choices
You can:
- Update your profile information from your account settings.
- Delete your account at any time by opening your profile in Smallness and tapping Delete account. This removes your account and associated content from our active systems.
- Request a copy of the data we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing info@basalhouse.com.
- Opt out of analytics using the link in section 3, or by using your browser’s privacy controls.
Depending on where you live (for example, the EEA, UK, or California), you may have additional rights under local law, including the right to object to or restrict certain processing. We honor those rights when they apply.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit and hashed passwords. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe and to respond quickly if something goes wrong.
9. Children
Smallness is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the product or by email.
