Open a Business Bank Account

A business bank account helps you keep your money organized. It makes it easier to track income, pay expenses, save receipts, and understand what your business is earning.
Even if your business is small, separating business money from personal money can save stress later.
Before you open an account, gather your basic business information and compare a few options. You want an account that is easy to use and does not add unnecessary fees.
Gather your business details
Collect the information you may need to open the account.
You may need your business name, business address, EIN or tax ID, formation documents, owner information, and business type. Requirements can vary by bank.
Decide what you need from the account
Think about how you will use the account.
Do you need online banking, a debit card, check deposits, cash deposits, invoicing, transfers, or low fees? Write down what matters most.
Compare a few banks
Look at at least 2–3 account options.
Compare monthly fees, minimum balances, transfer limits, deposit options, ATM access, and customer support.
Check for monthly fees
Make sure you understand the cost.
Some accounts charge fees unless you keep a certain balance or meet activity rules. Choose an account you can maintain comfortably.
Apply for the account
Open the account with the bank you choose.
Follow the bank’s steps and upload or bring any required documents. Make sure your business name is entered correctly.
Connect your payment tools
Link the account to the tools you use to get paid.
Connect your business bank account to Stripe, Square, PayPal, Shopify, app stores, invoice tools, or any other payment platform you use.
Move business money here
Start using this account for business income and expenses.
Send business payments into this account and pay business costs from it when possible. This keeps your records cleaner.
