Choose Your Brand Colors

article header

Your brand colors help your business feel familiar. They can show up on your website, social posts, packaging, emails, graphics, and printed materials.

You do not need a huge color palette. A few colors are enough to start. The goal is to choose colors that fit the feeling of your business and are easy to use together.

Think about how you want your business to feel before you choose the colors.
Choose the feeling of your brand

Pick 3–5 words that describe the mood.

Your colors should match how you want people to feel. Examples: calm, bold, playful, clean, luxury, warm, natural, creative, modern, soft, strong.
Collect color inspiration

Save colors you already like.

Look at photos, brands, rooms, outfits, packaging, nature, art, or websites. Save anything that feels close to your business.
Pick one main color

Choose the color people should remember most.

Your main color should feel connected to your business. It may be used for buttons, headers, packaging, or key graphics.
Pick one or two support colors

Choose colors that work well with your main color.

These colors can help add variety. Make sure they do not fight with your main color.
Pick a neutral color

Choose a simple background or text color.

Common neutral colors include white, cream, black, charcoal, gray, beige, or soft navy. Neutrals help your brand feel balanced.
Save your color codes

Write down the hex codes for your colors.

Hex codes look like #000000. Saving them helps you use the same colors across your website, graphics, and social posts.
Test the colors together

Make sure your colors are easy to read.

Put your colors together in a quick sample. Check that text is readable and the colors still feel like your business.

Example text:

“My brand colors are deep green, warm cream, soft gold, and charcoal. I want the brand to feel calm, natural, and trusted.”
